Hebridean Luxury Holidays

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Hebridean Luxury Holidays operates a policy of continuous improvement and complies with all relevant environmental legislation.

  • Our houses are built using techniques and materials at the forefront of eco design, to ensure they are both comfortable for you, our guests, and of the highest efficiency in terms of energy usage and therefore CO2 reduction.
  • You can further help our environment by following the simple guidelines in your welcome pack.  Some ideas may be new to you; perhaps you will take them with you on your return?
  • Not only do we recycle our household waste, we use recycled products where available, and encourage the same of you. Without people buying these products, there will be little point in recycling.
  • We use environmentally friendly Ecover products when available and fit for purpose.  Local produce is bought when available, and Fairtrade goods are also sourced.
  • A blog is provided on our website and any comments are welcome.

Guest  "Green" Guidelines

  • Please try and observe these requests as far as possible to conserve energy and waste while staying with us.
  • Use Green bins for recycling at drying area. Plastics in clear bags,   tins and glass in blue internal bins. (Rinse first please). Paper and food waste into organic bin.
  • Use outside rotary driers / clothes lines  and internal clothes rack for drying laundry. Please restrict use of tumble drier to a final dry off if required at all.
  • Switch off neon power switch at TV. This cuts off the stand by power to the TV, Satellite decoder and DVD player. (On standby these still require 80% of full operating power). It will take two minutes for the Sky decoder to pick up a signal after being turned on, be patient.
  • Use the electrisave monitor, you will then be better able to understand where your own power at home is being used.
  • Use the dual flush option on the cisterns appropriately.
  • Use the large cotton recycled bag bags provided when doing your shopping to limit the amount of plastic bags taken from shops.
  • Restrict power use if possible to between 7pm and 7 am, eg for washing machine and tumble drier. This helps by reducing the peak power load that the electricity producer has to provide.
