Craigroyston Lodge
Built in 2003, using the environmentally friendly SIP system (structural insulated panels), this Larch-clad, Scandinavian design building was the first of its kind to be constructed in the Western Isles. It has beautiful open views across the Broad Bay sands from the kitchen and bedroom windows.
This three-bedroomed house boasts a spacious, fully equipped kitchen opening out on to a large open-plan dining and lounge area topped with vast cathedral ceilings. Patio doors open from the main lounge area on to a generous decking area, and an outdoor hot tub (optional at time of booking) sits off this decking. The feature staircase leads to the “minstrel’s gallery” and two bedrooms and luxury bathroom on the first floor.
The vast ceilings are clad in rough sawn Douglas Fir and this all creates a Scandinavian feel. Magnificent floor-to-ceiling windows to the south elevation of the living area maximise the natural light and passive solar heat gain, further enhancing Craigroyston Lodge’s environmental credentials.
The lodge has three bedrooms: a bunk-bed room and adjacent shower room on the ground floor and two spacious double and king-size bedrooms upstairs. These two bedrooms are accessed via the minstrel’s gallery with a luxury bathroom (including Jacuzzi bath) in the middle.
The living areas and bedrooms come complete with a range of Harris Tweed soft furnishings and Scottish Arran Aromatics toiletries are supplied in the bath and shower rooms. Sky Sports TV package, DVD Home Cinema and wi-fi internet are all provided.
The gardens are securely enclosed by a beautiful “drystone” dyke constructed using reclaimed stone from ancient island Black Houses. The garden is secured with a lockable gate so this property is ideal for guests bringing their dogs. There is a clothes drying area, a car port and large garden shed which can be used to store or secure bicycles and other bulky equipment, such as boating, fishing or water sports gear.
